Can't unlock or lock the car

To unlock the car, go to your rental, and click on "Start the rental".

If the button is not accessible, several options are possible:

  • You didn't proceed to your driving license check, do it so you can start the rental
  • Your licence check failed, look at this help article to proceed to a new attempt
  • You rental has not started yet. i.e the time is 10:55, and your rental starts at 11:00. You have to wait until 11:00.

If the button is accessible but you can't open the car :

  • Go to your rental and click on "Contact us" so we can help you.


Where will I find the car keys on my Getaround Connect rental?

When renting with Getaround Connect, you don't meet the owner directly: the keys will be inside the car directly. The owner usually leaves them in the glovebox, in the sun visor or in the storage area between the two front seats.

If the car keys aren't there, check out the car manual that the owner wrote, it will tell you where the owner left the keys. You can find it on your Getaround app as soon as your rental has started, on the rental page.

If the owner didn't specify where the keys would be, or they're not where the owner said they would be, try contacting the owner for more information.
